Walk me through an annotation or quality-checking project you can discuss, including your own contribution and limits.

Instruction: Build the supplied eight-message practice project with labels, decisive reasons, guideline version, provenance and a checking log. The example pitch describes proposed work; present it as completed only after doing it, or substitute your actual project contribution and validation limits.

Context:

Build an inspectable synthetic labeling project and prepare a truthful explanation of your contribution, checking process and remaining limits.

Original synthetic practice project

This is an eight-message exercise you can complete yourself. The supplied messages are fictional, contain no customer records and are not an employer assessment. Until you finish the work, it remains a proposed project rather than a past achievement.

Guideline delivery-intent-v1: Assign exactly one of these labels per message, using only the text in that message:

  • delivery_update: an explicit request for shipment location, delivery status or expected arrival.
  • address_change: an explicit request to change the delivery address.
  • cancel_order: an explicit request to cancel an order.
  • needs_review: two or more supported intents are requested, or the text does not establish any supported request. This exercise has no intent-priority rule and allows no multi-label output.

A negated action is not a request for that action. A statement about a policy or a past change is not, by itself, a new action request. An email address is not a delivery address. Do not infer earlier conversation or silently add an intent label. Keep the specific unresolved reason for every needs_review item.

Messages:

  • M01: "My package hasn't arrived. Can you check where it is?"
  • M02: "Please change the delivery address to the new one on my account."
  • M03: "Please cancel this order before it ships."
  • M04: "Can you track my order and change its delivery address?"
  • M05: "Do not cancel the order. When will it arrive?"
  • M06: "The checkout page says orders cannot be canceled after dispatch."
  • M07: "Can you help with that?"
  • M08: "I changed my email address yesterday; is the package on its way?"

Deliverables:

  • Create labels.jsonl: one valid JSON object per line, one record per supplied message, with exactly message_id, label, reason and guideline_version. Reasons must identify the decisive words or missing rule, not just repeat the label.
  • Keep the unchanged message inputs and the supplied guideline in the project.
  • Write a short README.md naming the synthetic provenance, the supplied guideline version, your own contribution and whether any independent reviewer actually participated.
  • Keep a checks.md log: check missing, extra or duplicate IDs; allowed labels; schema and guideline version; and each decision against its source. Attempt a first pass before viewing the worked solution, then log any changes made after comparison. Preserve unresolved reasons. Do not describe comparison with this worked solution as independent performance validation.

Prepare a short project explanation. Distinguish what you propose to do, what you actually completed and what the checks can establish on this small set.

Prepare a stronger answer

I'd build an eight-message practice project using the synthetic inputs and the supplied delivery-intent-v1 guideline. My contribution would be assigning each label, writing its decisive reason and keeping the original inputs beside the output...

Your preparation path

Choose the track that matches the role. Work through its questions in order, then explain each answer in your own words.

Try the 20 minute mock assessment. Use the fictional cases to practice; the self-check is not an employer's hiring benchmark.
