I do not like waiting for the due date to discover the order was fragile all along. I want earlier signals: acknowledgment quality, milestone tracking on critical orders, lead-time changes, partial-shipment patterns, and whether the supplier is answering with confidence or vague reassurance.
That kind of tracking does not have to be heavy on every order. But on critical commitments, it should tell you something before the promise breaks....
