Prepare for prospect calls when the product brief leaves important questions unanswered.
Instruction: Give a practical preparation plan and the exact response you would use for an unconfirmed capability.
You are preparing for your first fictional prospecting shift. The approved QueuePilot brief says it serves support teams of 10–80 agents with an unassigned-ticket queue, owner assignment, a daily backlog report, and CSV import. No pricing, live integration, security, savings, implementation, or customer-reference claims are approved. You have a training sandbox and a product trainer. An account executive (AE) handles technical and commercial confirmation.

Example Answer
Before calling, I'd want to explain the core workflow clearly, demonstrate it in the sandbox, and know where to take questions I cannot answer. I'd follow the trainer's steps to find an unassigned ticket, assign an owner, and view the backlog report. Then I'd explain it back in buyer language and ask the trainer to correct me.
I'd keep a short reference with approved capabilities, open questions, and the owner for each answer. I'd also practice a discovery question and confirm the handoff process with the AE.
If someone asked whether we connect to their help desk, I'd say: “CSV import is supported. I need to confirm whether there is a live connection to your system. Which help desk are you using, and what would that connection need to do?” I'd record the requirement, agree how to return with an answer, and check it with the AE.
What the interviewer is assessing
Essential: Combines hands-on learning, accurate explanation, and a reliable route for unknowns.
Stronger: Checks understanding through demonstration and teach-back, then captures the buyer’s specific requirement.
Red flags: Guesses from a competitor’s features, treats sandbox practice as technical certification, or promises an answer without an owner.
Follow-up
How would you tell whether you were ready for the first calling shift?
Example response: “I would ask the trainer or manager to observe a short product explanation, a discovery exchange, and an unknown-capability question. I should be able to stay within the approved facts, capture the requirement, and use the agreed handoff process. Any gap would become a specific practice task.”
