[UAT/Delivery] A defect is raised in UAT, but engineering says it matches the documented requirement. How do you handle it?

Instruction: Classify the two observations, write the defect evidence and identify the decision owner for any scope change.

Context:

Fictional UAT case. Approved requirement R12 says: “An expense over $500 must receive manager and finance approval before reimbursement; $500 or less needs manager approval.” Test expense E77 is $650; the build permits reimbursement after manager approval alone. A user also asks that every expense, including $100, receive finance approval. No approved rule change exists. Release is in two days; the product owner decides scope and release acceptance.

E77 is a defect against R12: $650 is over $500, so manager approval alone cannot authorize reimbursement. Record the requirement version, test data, exact steps, environment/build, actual result and expected result. Preserve evidence without exposing unnecessary personal expense details. Agree severity from impact and exposure, and involve the release owner; the BA does not waive the control.
